こんな時にニューヨークに行くの？
という日本の友人たちの
心配を振り切って
開催したソロショウ。
確かに、ニューヨークは一年前とは
全く違う姿に変わっていました。
無くなった店、
治安悪化。
街は汚れ、
ホームレスも増えて
活気が失われてしまったニューヨーク。
最初は衝撃を受けましたが
１ヶ月弱ここにいて、
本当に来てよかった。と思っています。
マリさんの絵から元気をもらいました
という声をたくさんいただき
それって私の生きる力だなと。

また、日本にいてマスコミの情報だけでは
およそ知ることができなかった
生の感覚。
様々な国の人、在住の人と会い
情報を集め、知らないことを知ることができました。
パンデミックは大変です。
日本とは比較にならないレベルです。
しかし、
それでも立ち上がると信じています。
ニューヨークは、いや、アメリカは、
そして人間は強い。
なんどもそうやって立ち上がってきました。
生きていればいろんなことがある。
でも、大切な人を思い、感謝をし、
そしてゼロからイチへ向かう。
そんな気持ちを改めて感じたニューヨーク。
私は春に
EXPOとsolo showのため
またニューヨークにやってきます。
日本の桜が咲く頃、
再び降り立つニューヨークが
どうかわっているのか
楽しみにしながら。
ニューヨークで出会えたみなさん。

“Do you really go to New York at this time?”, my Japanese friends said.
However, I shook off their worries and held my solo show.
Certainly, New York was totally different
from what it was a year ago.
Some stores were gone, and
its peace and order got worse.
The city becomes dirty,
the number of homeless people is increasing, so
New York has lost its vitality.
I was shocked at first, but
I had stayed in the city for less than a month, and
I feel really glad I visited it.
I felt the actual sensation, which I couldn’t know
by only the media information in Japan.
I met people from various countries and residents and collected information, so
I was able to find out what I didn’t know.
The pandemic is dreadful.
The situation of New York is so serious that it does not compare to Japanese one.
Still,
I believe the city will overcome the pandemic.
Not only New York but America is strong.
And, humans are also strong.
They have overcome again and again in that way.
We necessarily encounter many things if we are alive.
However, we think of precious people and are grateful to them.
Then, we start from scratch again.
I felt such a feeling in New York afresh.
I am going to participate in the New York Art Expo and hold my solo show in the next spring, so
I will visit New York again.
When Japanese cherry blossoms bloom,
I will come to the city again with looking forward to the change of New York.
